Description
A lady's 9k and rolled gold Victorian heart slide chain that was worn as a safety chain for a lady's pocket watch. However these style of chains were called a number of names based on it's use such as Lorgnette chain, pocket watch slide chain, long guard chain and even a muff chain (although this style of chain is not one, many incorrectly use this term). This slide watch chain is a 2.0mm wide, rolled gold plated, flat cable link chain with a 9k gold heart shaped slide that deeply carved scrolled pattern on the front. It is set with a red paste stone accent in the center. The original swivel clasp that would hold a pocket watch can also be used to suspend a locket, fob, charm, etc. The clasp is marked C& H Co for Chapin & Hollister Company of Provedence Rhode Island, makers of rolled plate chain.
Measurements: Measures 48" in length by 2.0mm in width.
Condition: Very good condition with no noticeable wear to the chain and only minor wear to the clasp. The slide is a little loose on the chain and slides easily.
