Description
A late Georgian to early Victorian era Rocco style repousse and citrine brooch. The front is gilded with chasing along the crescent shaped scrolls. The machine stamped repousse is close backed and hollow in construction which is typical of these light large but weight pieces. In the center of the three-dimensional scroll work is an approximately 7.5 carat oval brilliant citrine with a beautiful vivid orange color. It is mounted on a raised multi prong collet style setting. The metal is gilded or gold plated metal that has the rosy coppery look of pinchbeck or a similar brass alloy.
Measurements: 1 3/4" in length by 1 1/4" in width.
Condition: Very good condition. Some wear to the gold plating showing the coppery surface and oxidation to the back.
