Description: A vintage 835 silver vermeil Greek mythology brooch of the charioteer Nike & Zeus. The highly detailed subject is what is believed to be winged Nike who in scenes of the War of the Giants appears as the charioteer of Zeus. Nike is often seen together with Zeus and Athena, or with conquerors whose horses she guides to Victory. She resembles Athena in appearance, except she has wings.
The age is unknown but this is a very solid well made piece most likely originated from Germany. Has a roll over safety clasp closure with a rivet set hinge. Marked 835 and with what looks like 035.
Measurements: 1 7/8" in length by 1" at the widest point.
Condition: Excellent with no wear to the surface.
