Description
An antique early 1900's gilded lavaliere pendant and 18" chain. They were named after the Duchesse de La Vallière, the mistress of King Louis XIV. She was known for popularizing a necklace with a dangly, drop style pendant. This pendant has a shield shaped imitation sapphire, blue glass stone, that bezel set with a serrated edge. Surrounding the bezel setting is a delicate ribbon like frame of rose gold plated filigree work that has a scroll and foliate design with a green gold leaf ornament at the top. Two imitation glass seed pearls accent the frame as well as a glass imitation dog's tooth fresh water river pearl dangle.
Measurement: Measures 1 3/4" in length from top of bail to base of dangle by 5/8" in width. The pendant is on an 18" antique rose gold filled 1.75mm cable link chain.
Condition: In good condition with only slight wear to the plating noticeable under magnification.
