Vintage 13x8mm Gray Moonstone Satin Glass | Teardrop Shape Buff Top Doublet | West German
Description
Very unusual vintage Western Germany gray "moonstone" satin glass doublets from a warehouse buyout of old stock from between the late 1950s - 1970s. Found in their original packaging. Sold individually by the piece or per dozen.
(13x8x4.7mm) 13mm in length by 8mm in width by 4.7mm in height with a gray to black colored satin sheen. The manufacturer calls these gray but in person this color leans more towards beige. These are classified as a faceted stone with a pavilion on the bottom and a buff top dome. There may be slight variations in size and imperfections in the glass. This is due to each one being individually hand made.
The West German glass industry existed from 1949 to 1990. Production peaked particularly after WWII through the 1950s and 1960's but continued on until Germany was reunited.
